Uman Greenhouse Factory reoriented its exports to the EU markets 09.01.2018

The Uman Greenhouse Factory until 2017 had no experience of exporting to Western markets, but in the year almost completely reoriented its exports.

This was told by the head of sales department of the plant Roman Gordiy, according to the National Industrial Portal, with reference to propozitsiya.com.

Greenhouse producers were among those who suffered the most from the Russian embargo on the import of Ukrainian fruit and vegetable products. After all, a significant share of the volume of their production for decades was exported to Russia. Therefore, Ukrainian heaters have been faced with a choice: either to significantly reduce production, that is, to stop growing on a part of the area, or to enter new export markets. And for the reorientation of greenhouse vegetables export there is only one direction - the EU countries.

Fortunately, greenhouse combines are in a more advantageous situation than producers of vegetables in film greenhouses, which, moreover, with a rare exception, are small. In glass greenhouses the quality of a product is better, and it is much easier to set up exports to large enterprises.

But still, as Roman Gordian told, it was not easy to reorient the export. However, as R. Gordiy added, it is possible and it gives the result. According to him, first of all, to enter the western markets, it is required that the product be homogeneous and that the volumes of deliveries were at least 1 "truck" a week.

It is desirable that this product has some of its features, because in the segment of the standard product prices are low, and competition is high. Further, as R. Gordiy told, it is necessary to deal with the peculiarities of the consumer preferences of the country where the export is planned: to see what products there are most represented in supermarkets, how they are presented there, in what kind of packaging, which is a commodity.

Packing is also very important, because if it can not stand the distant road, then it will have to write off large volumes of products.

Therefore, it is not worth saving on packaging. Fortunately, in Ukraine it is already possible to find a package of decent quality and at a competitive price, - said R. Gordiy.

The certification of GlobalGAP is also a must-see step in practice. The Uman Greenhouse Factory was originally exported through wholesalers from the respective countries.

But then they realized that it was necessary to create their own wholesale company in countries where orders for our products were available, "said R. Gordiy.

At present, more than 90% of the export of the plant goes to neighboring Poland. Supplies are also made to the Baltic States and even to Spain and Portugal (in the season when it is too hot in the greenhouse films in the country). But Roman Hordei says that it is necessary to look not only at neighboring countries, but also to move further to other EU markets, especially to the big ones like Germany and Great Britain.
